New CollectorBox for X-Wing upgrades ready!

July 18, 2017 By SirWillibald 11 Comments

The new CollectorBox for Upgrade Cards.

As promised on FB, the foamboard enhanced CollectorBox for upgrade cards is finally ready and can be found in the appropriate section. It’s slightly smaller than the old one (read the description about the reasons), but it’s significantly sturdier and won’t give in even when filled to the brim.

Open box with dividers.

For now there is only a ENG and GER version of the box, but I already prepared my workflow to add additional localized versions, but I need help to fill my language file. See below for detailed instructions how to help me adding a FRA, ESP, ITA or BRA version of them, most of the work has already been done by some dedicated fans..

Don’t be intimated by the foamcore, check out the instruction page to learn how easy it is to use, especially when using my templates.

Happy crafting,
SirWilli

For the new upgrade box, the first page of five (foamcore template) is not printing correctly for me. I’m missing the top cut line of the first part and the bottom cutting line of the last part. I’ve printed at 100% like in the instruction. All the other pages are correct. Maybe it’s just my printer; I have a HP Laserjet CP1525nw.

Same for the pilot.. the pages with the separator are too large the last ones on the right are missing the right side πŸ™

Which cut line is missing? The outer (dashed) or the inner (solid) one? If only the dashed line is missing but you can see the solid line than that’s not a problem at all. You are supposed to cut the templates roughly(!) along the dashed lines, glue it firmly to foamboard and then cut the foamboard along the solid lines. The solid lines are the important ones.

      Does this help?

This indeed help! I thought the space between the dashed line and the solid line were where you glue the parts! This solve my upgrade box problem, thanks a lot!

For the pilot box, approx a 1/4 of the inch in not printer for the far right row of the divider. I tried to check if it was a margin configuration but I don’t have that kind of option for my printer. I think it’s really my printer that just doesn’t print this close to end of the page. Is it possible to have the dividers only by two column and two line per page instead of three?

Thanks for all your hard work!

I just finished the upgrade box, a very nice addition with the foamcore!

Are you planning a bigger box in the future? I have one of each expansion and I had to remove all the “Huge ship only” cards otherwise it would not be big enough for all the card.

Honestly I didn’t, because even a bigger box would eventually become too small at some point. The current size seemed to be a good compromise between usability, amount of needed print sheets and size. My own cards don’t fit, as well, I was planning to build an additional box to have room for the next few years…

Making it bigger would be quite time consuming, I don’t have to design it from scratch, but enlarging boxes is a pain in the ass, so many little things you have to take care of. Not to mention that everything has to be arranged completely new on the print sheets, the artwork has to be adapted and my dataset files need a huge overhaul because of the new page layout.

But I’ll keep it in mind and will wait to see how many fans out there are going to mourn because of the size… πŸ™‚

    Hi,

I just wanted to ask if there is already an updated version of the manoevre cards for wave 11. Sorry to bother you here, but couldn’t find a contact section.

    Best,

    Mark

    Hey,

Just finished making the new upgrade and pilot boxes and they are pretty fantastic. Many thanks for the updates.

I was wondering if you had any plans to adapt them for storing the ship bases and dials? The small bases would almost fit in the upgrade card box and the large bases almost fit in the pilot card box!

    Cheers

Many thanks as always. They will be worth the wait.

        Cheers
