EpicHangar, what’s that?

That’s easy, a tuckbox for epic ships. When I took over the MicroHangar project from DarkPadawan I thought “Great idea, but I have to find something else for those freaking big epic ships, there’s no way to build a hangar out of cardstock for them…” Turned out I was wrong, even though it took me quite some time and thinking. My experience with the ISD from Armada finally helped me, after trying about three other approaches which resulted in nothing more than a huge pile of wasted cardstock.

The EpicHangars (I thought the term “MicroHangars” wouldn’t do those babies justice) are designed not only to hold and protect the ship, but also have room for the corresponding GearBox. This way you have everything you need for any given epic ship in one place. And to assure the sturdiness of the EpicHangars I’ve added a few reinforcement sheets which in combination with the paper cuboids inside (called “Docking Clamps”) results in a really sturdy box. So far there are two EpicHangars available, the other ships are sitting on my shelf and I’m sure they’ll get their own hangars, as well. Just give me some time.

The second EpicHangar. This one’s a beast of 25 pages of cardstock, but building it is not that difficult. Follow the instruction slider below. Oh, and sort you parts before starting, this will help a lot (GearBox, reinforcement walls, bottom, front, rear, lid and the rest):
